Going to the gym my weight training sessions last about 1.5hrs. At some point (for what reason I still don't know) the skin in my armpits started getting extremely chafed every time. First I tried the Body Glide deodorant type stick which was terrible, it went on very sticky and decreased chafing by about half but didn't resolve it. Next I tried a oily, possibly petroleum based ointment that came in a pump container. It resolved the chafing entirely and worked for a very long period of time, but it left grease marks on clothes and the smell was unbearable, a very strong (somewhat feminine) essential oil type of scent. I went through about 3 refills before I couldn't bear it and had to look elsewhere. Finally I got this. It resolved the chaffing entirely (although I will say the oil based product does last longer for someone doing distance running or cycling) and it has no scent AND non greasy. The best of all 3 worlds. I will definitely be using this moving forward. You have to squeeze a fair amount into hand for effectiveness but it doesn't matter because its substantially cheaper than other products anyway.
In the past few months I've been increasing my time and distance on my Peloton. Without being too personal, my undercarriage wasn't happy. So I hopped online to find a solution. I bought this Chamois Buttr' and some inexpensive padded shorts. One-week in and my undercarriage is restored! No issues whatsoever even on 60 minute rides! The lotion is not greasy and doesn't leave any residue. It's a little weird applying it to the nether-regions before each ride but it is so worth it in the long run. Highly recommend!
Ironman training requires very long bike rides and runs and I battled chaffing throughout the whole thing. I had so much chaff and pressure pain after 4-6 hour bike rides I was getting desperate for a solution. Tea tree oil mixed with olive oil was great for treating the pain, but not as a proactive solution.
This stuff works as both a proactive solution for bike seat chaffing, as well as a mild post-ride treatment solution. I first started off just using before rides and tea tree after, then started using this product before and after. I was impressed with the immediate results. On race day, I applied this before, but knew I was going to need something during the bike, so I put a little bit in my special needs bag. I completed the first half after about 3 hours and had some chaffing starting - quickly applied this stuff for the second half and it DISSOLVED all of the chaffing and kept the pain at bay for the whole second half. The marathon that came after had almost no chaffing, thanks to the ability to treat symptoms during the bike.
I look forward to continuing to use this product, both for biking AND running.
After years of a pretty sedentary lifestyle, I started getting into biking this past April. Since May I have purchased 2 bikes and I am riding several times per week. The two most important things for my comfort are a good pair of cycling shorts / bibs with a high quality chamois (see my other reviews for recommendations) and chamois cream. The Chamois Butt'r Cream is my favorite. It is affordable, non-greasy, non staining and odorless. But most importantly, IT WORKS!! My longest ride to date was 100 miles but with good cycling shorts and Chamois Butt'r cream, I did not have any chaffing or skin / friction problems even on an all day ride.
Last week I did a 75 mile ride in 95 degree heat. I had a little saddle soreness during the ride but the after-ride shower was downright painful. I've never used a chamois cream and that was fine when my rides were no longer than two hours or so. But the longer rides in this hot weather can get you over time. This past weekend, I did a century ride with temperatures in the upper 90s and Chamois Butt'r saved my butt - literally. Saddle comfort during the ride was better and there was no residual pain after the ride was over. I'm glad that I gave it a try!
